👀 A big thanks to Mr. Greening's morning class today. They unloaded 17,500 pounds of chairs for the HMS auditorium. As you see it’s A LOT of boxes. 💪🎉 We’re getting closer to being complete! 🦅 Staff and students at HMS had an amazing assembly honoring our veterans on Monday, November 11. During the assembly, our talented HMS band performed the Star-Spangled Banner and Armed Forces on Parade. Our Pirate Singers sang the beautiful song, Song for the Unsung Hero. Our LOC (Leaders of the Crew) students took on the leadership role of setting up the reception for our veterans and led the assembly. 🎉A big congratulations to our Patriot's Pen Essay winner, Elliott Seiler! 🏴‍☠️️ Thank you Veterans for attending our assembly. Thank you to Hannibal American Legion Post 55 for presenting/retiring our colors. Thank you to Marine Corps. Veteran, Ken Cummins for performing Taps. Thank you to our History department for organizing and speaking. Thank you to our keynote speaker, Army/National Guard Veteran Staff Sgt. Sean Phillips. He had a great message to give to all of our students. 🏴‍☠️️We not only want to thank our Veterans and staff, but our students also. The attention and respect given during the assembly was outstanding! Way to go, HMS!!

🗳️Mock Election at Hannibal Middle School! 🗳️ Ms. Hagenah and Mr. Harvey are hosting a mock election at HMS this week, giving students an interactive and inspiring lesson on democracy! Together, students learn that it’s not about who you vote for, but about the importance of participating and respecting the process. This experience is a fantastic way to introduce students to the power and responsibility of voting. Each student received their very own "voter registration card" to keep as a memorable token of this experience, emphasizing that voting is a powerful right and responsibility we all share as Americans.🇺🇸 #HannibalProud #TogetherWeThrive

Seventh grade girls beat eighth grade girls in three sets to play the Cyclones from Jefferson City in the championship game.

Explore the Invention of Writing! HMS Sixth graders used a stylus (toothpick) to press symbols into small clay tablets (Oreos). Students then wrote 3 to 4 sentences on the importance of their symbols. They did a fantastic job! John Bleigh from Bleigh construction came to talk to our Let’s Build with Math class. He showed us drawings, talked through bids and estimates and even made them do some math from the drawings.
