HANNIBAL, MO – Hannibal Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ritchie Kracht as the district’s next superintendent, effective July 1, 2025. Dr. Kracht brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to education and community engagement.
Dr. Kracht has served as the Superintendent of Clark County R-1 Schools in Kahoka, MO, since 2006. Throughout his 19 year tenure as a superintendent, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership in school operations, facility planning, and community collaboration. His notable accomplishments include the development of a 30-year facilities plan, the successful passage of two bond measures, and the construction of an Early Childhood Center. Additionally, Dr. Kracht played a pivotal role in the consolidation of three K-8 school districts into Clark County R-1, ensuring a smooth transition through collaboration with school leaders and stakeholders.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Kracht is a dedicated advocate for community service. He has volunteered as a youth sports coach and serves as a mentor for aspiring superintendents. His leadership extends to various roles within the Missouri Association of School Administrators (MASA), reflecting his commitment to advancing public education across the state.
Hannibal Public Schools Board of Education President, Blane Mundle, expressed his enthusiasm for the future under Dr. Kracht’s leadership, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Kracht to Hannibal Public Schools. His extensive experience in district finances, managing building projects, and fostering relationships with staff and the community will be invaluable as we continue to empower Hannibal students to thrive.”
The Board also extends its heartfelt appreciation to current Superintendent Susan Johnson for her 33 years of dedicated service to the district. “We cannot thank Susan enough for her unwavering dedication and leadership over the years,” added Mundle. “We wish her the very best in her well-deserved retirement.”
Dr. Kracht’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Hannibal Public Schools, and the district looks forward to his leadership in continuing to provide excellence in education.
