Hannibal Public Schools is reviewing it's elementary school boundaries for the first time since 2000. Over the past two decades, our town has seen a shift in population toward the west side, influenced by the closure of Central and Pettibone Elementary Schools and the opening of Veterans Elementary. With district enrollment declining and expected to remain steady, redistricting is essential to better utilize our facilities and meet the educational needs of all students.
We recognize that redistricting is a complex task, and we value your input. We are presenting three potential options for redistricting and want to hear your thoughts. To gather feedback, we have scheduled elementary school meetings for families and staff at 5:00 PM in each building's cafeteria on the following dates:
Thursday, October 3: A.D. Stowell
Monday, October 7: Eugene Field
Tuesday, October 8: Mark Twain
Wednesday, October 9: Oakwood
Thursday, October 10: Veterans
Your involvement is crucial as we work together to shape the future of our schools. We will also be updating our website, https://www.hannibal60.com/page/redistricting, with additional information as it becomes available. We hope to see you at one of the meetings.
We want to hear your thoughts on the models provided. Our stakeholder Feedback form is open through Friday October 11.
